SNCF Gares & Connexions Lost & Found service: how does it work?

  1. Receipt of lost items

Upon receipt, lost property is registered in the national database. It will be kept for 30 days at the station where the item was found or, for items left on a train, at the station of arrival.

  2. Reporting a lost item

Once you've reported your loss online or at the station, the search will start immediately. Please be as precise as possible to facilitate the search. You will receive an e-mail confirming that your loss report has been processed.

  3. Search for item

A national database of items found on trains and in stations compares, in real time and over a 30-day period, items found and items reported lost by customers.

  4. Return of item

When your item is found, you can collect it from the station or have it sent to your home (shipping costs at your expense). It will be returned to you on presentation of proof of identity and payment of €5 or €10, depending on the value of the item.

  5. Donation of unclaimed items

If the object is not claimed by its owner within 30 days, it will be handed over to the Administration des Domaines, donated to a non-profit organisation or destroyed.

Have you found something?

If you find something at a station or on a train, please drop it off at one of our Lost & Found offices or with station staff. The item will then be registered in the Lost & Found database, giving the owner the best chance of finding it.
