Stations play a vital role in a well-balanced territorial development. We are working with local authorities and elected representatives to invent the station of the future, offer more trains, and contribute to the development of more sustainable mobility.

Intermodality and Metropolitan Regional Express Services
Our vision of the station is to be a “mobility hub” at the heart of each region. SNCF Gares & Connexions is working alongside local authorities to develop intermodality and support the Metropolitan Regional Express Services project in France's major cities.
Local appeal
Stations are no longer just places of transit; they are scenes of social life. SNCF Gares & Connexions places stations at the service of the local economy and social cohesion. Our vision of a station is its openness to local surroundings, contributing to the dynamism and attractiveness of the area. This means making space available for shops, local entrepreneurs, workspaces, information or exhibition areas, etc.

Town and country planning
SNCF Gares & Connexions is a significant player in town and country planning, particularly as a designer and builder of new stations that will shape tomorrow's landscapes and become integral to the daily lives of the French population. Our company also plays a vital role in designing multimodal interchange hubs that connect the different modes of transport in the region.
Contracting authority
With its subsidiary AREP, SNCF Gares & Connexions is the expert in the design and renovation of stations, making them multi-purpose and multimodal from start to finish. Assets, transformation, modernisation and adaptation, accessibility and creation of new stations: SNCF Gares & Connexions is currently the contracting authority for over 100 projects worth more than €10 million throughout France, representing a total investment of over €3.5 billion.

Encouraging intermodal transport
Stations must be connected to the transport network of towns and regions. It must be possible to easily arrive at and leave the station by bike, on foot, by taxi or public transport. Intermodal transport is about seeing the train as a link in a journey that requires multiple modes of transport. The quality of the experience of passing from one mode of transport to another in terms of fluidity and accessibility plays on passengers’ fondness for trains. We accompany the passenger on the whole of their journey, up to the last kilometre of travel.
