My latest big project is called EVA. This name may not mean much to you, but it will make life much easier for passengers at stations. EVA is the new programme that has completely overhauled passenger information at stations when it comes to both sound and image.
I manage the technical project for deploying EVA at stations. This is a huge project that will be seen by 10 million people every day and will be able to display information for 15,000 SNCF trains and also other carriers with the opening up to competition. I enjoy the satisfaction from building something that has a direct impact on people.
I joined the SNCF Group in 2007 as part of the Helios project to overhaul the Group’s whole HR system. In 2016 I joined SNCF Gares & Connexions to be closer to the core business of rail. Since 2017, I have been a Product Owner, a sort of IT project manager working in agile mode in a more collaborative way and fully customer oriented. It’s in this role that I am managing the EVA project and also the Lucide programme. Lucide, more modest in its application, is a new system that enables staff to view all the trains within a station. It will be deployed in early 2020.
Whether for EVA or Lucide, I carry out the same coordination work involving teams with very different competences, from developers to technical architects generally from external service providers up to IT production via SNCF’s Digital Services Operations Department (DOSN). Thanks to this permanent collaboration I manage to respond to the everyday technical challenges that can sometimes be significant in size. For example, managing the migration of IBM’s Cloud system to Amazon while the EVA application was still under construction.
I enjoy being able to make suggestions and offer support as part of an ambitious strategy run by SNCF Gares & Connexions which involves giving the station a new place in the town. This is a very dynamic company where there is much talk about renovation of stations and also creation of new stations such as Nîmes TGV with numerous experiments, for example with smart buildings.
