MIT Senseable City Lab

SNCF Gares & Connexions and the MIT Senseable City Lab, whose mission is to study and anticipate the evolution of digital environmental technologies in the urban space, have signed an agreement for research and exchange in order to develop innovations and comfort at stations. The Senseable City Lab researchers are working with the SNCF Gares & Connexions teams (AREP Design Lab and the Digital Department) with a view to publish the results of their research in academic journals and lead to tangible achievements at stations to improve the thermal, acoustic and visual comfort of passengers and visitors. The experiments are being conducted at three stations: Paris Nord, Lille Europe and Aix-en-Provence TGV.

Run by the company NUMA as a trusted third party and the Paris city authority, DataCity helps to promote the importance of the stations in towns through an open collaboration method. Big companies, startups, the city council and citizens all collaborate to resolve problems and identify new opportunities.
