What happens when a customer forgets an item or bag in a station?

When a customer forgets an item or bag in a station, announcements are made so that the owner can come and retrieve it as quickly as possible.

This is to protect customers from any terrorist threat and to reduce the impact of bomb disposal operations on the regularity of train movements and station evacuations.

For all of these reasons, any items or bags left unattended in a station that cannot be immediately identified as safe will be liable to a fine of €150 or even the destruction of the item and/or bag. If the customer has correctly labelled their object or luggage, station staff can contact them to collect it as soon as possible, once it has been deposited with Lost property.
